The general media is amazed that the light saber used by Like Skywalker in
the original Star Wars movie sold for $200,600 during the recent Profiles
in History auction. Every major news source reported on the sale and seemed

handling over 550 lots while under the spotlight of media scrutiny. Several of
the items they were offering greatly exceed the expected value. In what may be
the best example, the Lightsaber used by Darth Vader in The Empire Strikes
Back sold for $118,000. The pre-auction value was set at $40,000 to $60,000.

Other Hollywood items went for top dollar. The leather jacket worn by
Arnold Schwarzenegger in The Terminator sold for $41,000 and the complete
costume worn by Tom Hanks in Saving Private Ryan brought
$29,500.
