In cult film circles, Terry Gilliam is something of a super-celebrity. The
director behind the Monty Python franchise, 12 Monkeys, The Adventures
of Baron Munchausen, The Fisher King, Jabberwocky
, and the upcoming The
Brothers Grimm
, Gilliam told Sci Fi Wire that he has his sites set on
bringing a long-planned dream script to the big screen: The Man Who Killed
Don Quixote
.

Gilliam was quick to state that the film won’t be a
direct adaptation of the Quixote story, much like The Brothers Grimm isn’t
entirely based in factual events. Rather the film will add onto and reinvent the
mythos surrounding Don Quixote.

Gilliam was part of the 2003 Quixote
film, Lost in La Mancha, with Johnny Depp, but plans to recast Quixote in
his new film.

Is this a great idea or a film best left in the abstract?
Do fans ever tire of Quixote revisionist tales? What do you
