Bidding in this amazing auction is just about to open as Scoop was
going to press. It is scheduled to begin at 6:00pm Central on March 17, 2006.
Russ Cochran is using the service of www.ebayliveauctions.com in
order to make the listings available to as many collectors a possible. Look
under Collectibles and Memorabilia.

The auction is available right now at
http://www.liveauctions.ebay.com/catalogs/18958.

The
auction contains an impressive mixture of art and books. Primary among Cochran’s
listings is the work of Italian artist Gino D’Achille. The artist’s work has
graced hundreds of books that span genres. Some of his most famous work has been
in the field of Fantasy, but he also did memorable work for Adventure novels,
Romance, Westerns and Science Fiction.

The list of artists offered sound
like a history of comics. Al Capp, Mort Walker, Hank Ketchum, Bill Holman,
Fontaine Fox, Carl Henderson, Zack Mosley, Harold Gray, Ernie Bushmiller, Bud
Blake, John Romita, Hal Foster, Graham Ingels and many more

The auction
also touches on animation with cells, story layouts and character drawings from
the Walt Disney Studios. In addition, Cochran has a listing for animation
drawings from the Simpsons. There is even a sketch of the great Yogi Bear.

If that isn’t enough, there is a selection of books from the collection
of Bill Gaines, art for a cover of MAD and enough original art to stock a
museum.
