Sight Unseen
In each of the last two years, writer Robert
Tinnell has co-written three different graphic novels that have ended up on our
Top 10 of the year (The Wicked West and The Black Forest in 2004
and The Living and The Dead in 2005). On his own he’s also written the
2006 Eisner Award-nominated collection Feast of the Seven Fishes and the
acclaimed The Faceless – A Terry Sharp Story. Now he has teamed up with
artist Bo Hampton (The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, Batman: Castle of the
Bat) for what is probably the most anticipated horror graphic novel thus far
in 2006.
Frank Byron is a neuro-physicist is blind, except that he can
see dead people. His seeing eye dog, Eugene, sees them, too. He develops a
technology to record for others what he’s seeing, but mainly what it does is
confirm that he’s discovered a new danger facing him, his daughter Molly, and
their friends.
Sight Unseen is a highly compelling addition to
Tinnell’s already amazing track record, and to Hampton’s as well. The reviews
elsewhere thus far have been great, and that’s no surprise.
