Last week we posed the question of whether or not Marvel Treasury Edition #26 was the first Wolverine solo story.  We made the point that though Wolverine and Hercules are titled as a team-up, Wolverine is the star of the story. To read the complete article click here.

We got some great responses and wanted to include them for the rest of our readers to enjoy.

“While I enjoyed reading the latest edition of Scoop, I must disagree with the opinion that Marvel Treasury Edition #26 features the first solo Wolverine story. I would not even consider this story to be a solo story for that matter. The cover clearly bills it as "an all new story starring Hercules and Wolverine" and is clearly printed on the cover of Marvel Treasury Edition #26. The story is a team-up event, even though the story content weights more towards Wolverine.

While Hercules only appears in a portion of the story he is still present and this story cannot be defined as a Wolverine solo story.

The Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines a solo as "a performance in which the performer has no partner or associate: something undertaken or done alone." While Wolverine may be undertaking something in the storyline on his own he is not the only character in the story.

Regardless of the storyline, Hercules is included with Wolverine so I don’t think calling it Wolverine’s first solo story or even a Wolverine solo story is at all in anyway accurate. At best you could and should consider Marvel Treasury Edition #26 as a Wolverine/Hercules story which the Overstreet Comic Book Price Guide currently already notes.

Uncanny X-Men #162 does feature a Wolverine solo story. The story places Wolverine on an alien world alone. There are several flashbacks in this issue featuring other members of the X-Men team, but they do not appear in the story except when Wolverine is thinking back to situations from his past. Uncanny X-Men #162 is truly a solo Wolverine story unlike the Marvel Treasure Edition in question. If there is a first solo story for Wolverine perhaps Uncanny X-Men #162 is it or maybe the solo story is found elsewhere inside the pages of Uncanny X-Men.”

“If Hercules is a co-star, then it is impossible for this to be a Wolverine solo story.”

“I always was led to believe that the term Solo was equal to one. But now I find out by reading this article that Solo means two. So I guess the question on every male’s mind who has read this new definition is….. Does a couple now mean three instead of two???”
