Gone with the Wind Props at Heritage
Entertainment memorabilia is the name of the game in Heritage’s April 2008 Signature Auction. From the immortal film Gone with the Wind, Heritage is auctioning four pieces of furniture used in the movie. “These exceptional pieces, an arm chair and three side chairs, were used in multiple scenes in Gone With the Wind,” Doug Norwine, Director of Music and Entertainment Auctions for Heritage said. He went on to say that the chairs can be seen in the dining room and near the front door through many scenes in the epic film.
Set in the American South during the turbulent years surrounding the Civil War, Gone with the Wind is a true film legend, culturally paving the way for future screen dynamics and layered plot lines since its release in 1939. Starring Vivien Leigh and Clark Gable, the film scored an impressive eight Oscar wins including Best Picture, Best Director for Victor Fleming, Best Actress for Leigh, and Best Supporting Actress for Hattie McDaniel.
The chairs were acquired by the rare book store Heritage Book Shop in West Hollywood from an MGM auction of props and wardrobe. They were displayed at the store for the past twenty years. Bidding is set to begin approximately on March 17, 2008 and the lots will close on or before April 6. Go to ha.com to view the chairs.
