The market for high-grade cap guns has sustained itself for years, long ago putting to rest any notion that this particular market niche was a fad. Instead, it’s turned into a permanent wave. Even in the face of those who didn’t understand that cap guns were originally an important step in learning gun safety, the demand for them from collectors has been steady.

In this September’s auction from Hake’s Americana & Collectibles, a nice selection of cap guns and holster sets are among the offerings

Some guns of note include Roy Rogers gun and holsters sets (a 29.5-inch gun belt, the 32.5-inch version and the 40-inch set),  Roy Rogers Schmidt cap guns (the 10-inch model and the 8.5-inch version), Gene Autry cap guns by Leslie-Henry and Buzz Henry as well as other, non-cowboy specific cap guns.

The auction is now online and closes September 10, 2009.
