Whiteout Debuts at Theaters on September 11
When writer Greg Rucka (Queen and Country) and artist Steve Lieber (Underground) first unleashed Whiteout from Oni Press in 1998, it seemed a humble enough start, but the black and white, four-issue mini-series grabbed readers and didn’t let go.
Now the story is set for a September 11, 2009 release as a feature film from Warner Bros.
Directed by Dominic Sena (Gone in Sixty Seconds), the movie stars Kate Beckinsale (Underworld) as United States Marshall Carrie Stetko, with Gabriel Macht (The Spirit) as Robert Pryce and Tom Skerritt (Alien) as Dr. John Fury. Filmed in Manitoba, Montreal and on the shores of Canada’s Lake Winnipeg, Whiteout is set in Antarctica, where blood runs cold in the veins of a vicious killer and everything else is just… well, cold.
In addition to the movie, Whiteout and its sequel, Whiteout: Melt, are now available from Oni Press as a pair trade paperbacks, Whiteout Definitive Edition and Whiteout: Melt Definitive Edition.
