A Note from Russ Cochran
Russ Cochran sent this note out to his email subscriber list and we thought we’d pass it along to all the other comic art collectors out there:
Dear Collector:
I’m very proud of the selection being offered in Russ Cochran’s Comic Art Auction #90!
All of the lots (121 of them) are now posted to my website, www.russcochran.com. There’s a Frazetta painting, a great Frazetta Thun’da page, two classic Krazy Kat Sundays from the 1930s, two Tarzan Sunday originals, one by Hogarth and one by Foster, and dailies and Sunday page originals of Johnny Hart’s B.C. and Hart and Parker’s Wizard Of Id.
In addition, there is a great 9-page story with art by Will Elder from the first issue of MAD magazine, with an incredible splash page of personalities from 1955.
There is comic book art, including many covers (two by the great Joe Kubert), original cartoon art which appeared in Playboy, there’s an original Jack Davis painting of the Crypt-Keeper, some Dick Tracy dailies from the 1940s and 1950s, and, for the first time in my auction, some Sunday newspaper tear sheets of Popeye, Little Nemo, and Stumble Inn by George Herriman.
All in all, it’s the best auction I have offered in years. If you haven’t already registered for the auction, just go to my website, click on the “Comic Art Auction,” and take a look. I encourage you to also click on the "view larger image" icons to get a very detailed look at the artwork.
The auction closes on October 8. Remember, you can bid on any item online or you can phone or fax your bids. Happy hunting!
