The Los Angeles Times, New YorkMagazine, Publishers Weekly and USA Today are among the establishment media outlets who have taken note of IDW Publishing’s impending October 2009 release of Bloom County Library Volume 1.

Of those sources, USA Today will go the furthest when, during the week of October 5-9, it will run one classic BloomCounty strip a day with commentary by creator Berkeley Breathed.

This volume is the first of five. When completed, it will collect the entire run of the highly influential strip. Many installments have never been reprinted previously.

Geoff Boucher of the Los Angeles Times is also conducting an interview with Breathed, and further coverage is reportedly planned by New York Magazine and Publishers Weekly.
