Marvel Comics; $2.99

Okay, we know we’re bordering on the obsessive, but why is Nova so good issue after issue? We think we’ve figured it out: Somewhere in the Marvel universe there’s a closet full of second-tier characters brimming with potential if only they were used writers who understood that potential. And sitting in front of the closet, which they have padlocked, are Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning. For this issue of Nova, they’ve unlocked the closet, opened it, and extracted Monark Starstalker.

Yeah, we’ve been hounding the House of Ideas for a Monark Starstalker comeback for a long time now, right? Well, no… but once again these guys show they not only know their Marvel history, they know what do do with it.

Tune in next issue, when we probably love that one, too.
