With the Disney purchase of Marvel, the other studios that have been home to assorted Marvel properties are suddenly working feverishly to make sure they retain their rights by keeping things current. This includes such properties as the Fantastic Four, X-Men, Daredevil, Ghost Rider, among others.

According to Variety, Columbia Pictures has kick-started a second installment Ghost Rider, Fox is said to be rebooting Fantastic Four (with Green Lantern screenwriter Michael Green) and speeding up a Wolverine sequel and several other X-Men spinoffs, as well as spinning up a new version of Daredevil and the oft-mentioned Silver Surfer film.

Variety also reported that Sony recently hired James Vanderbilt to write the fifth and sixth installments of Spider-Man, while Universal continues work on Sub-Mariner.

Marvel’s own slate includes Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America, and The Avengers.
