Doug Schmell of Pedigree Comics has reported the consignment of a new group of Silver Age key issues to his company’s upcoming Grand Auction, which scheduled to begin Sunday, April 18, 2010 at 8:00 PM and last for 10 days until Wednesday evening, April 28.

With the second highest graded copy of Fantastic Four #1 (a white-paged, CGC-certified 9.4) already announced, he said this auction is shaping up to be a major event for early high grade CGC-certified Marvel and DC keys.

The new consignment includes the Pacific Coast copy of Daredevil #1, a gorgeous 9.4 with off-white to white pages (the second highest CGC ranked copy behind only four in 9.6), a Fantastic Four #1 in 8.5 with off-white to white pages, killer copy of Fantastic Four #5 in 9.4, the highest CGC grade given to date on this first appearance of Doctor Doom, a Journey Into Mystery #83 in 9.0 (the origin and first appearance of Thor), Amazing Spider-Man #14 in 9.6  (highest graded, first appearance of the Green Goblin), Amazing Spider-Man #17 in 9.6 (second appearance of the Green Goblin), Avengers #4 in 9.4 (second highest graded, first Silver Age appearance of Captain America) and a Justice League of America #1 in 9.4, the second highest graded best existing copy behind only one in 9.6, Schmell said.

“Many other great books will be available to bid on and buy in the auction, including a high grade group of early 1960’s Batman, including a killer run from the Pacific Coast Collection. The Batman issues start at #129 and the PacificCoast run consists of 17 issues between #152 and #171, most in 9.4 and 9.6 CGC-certified condition. Almost every Batman in this group is the highest graded CGC copy. There will also be a fabulous group of early 9.2 -9.6 Green Lantern issues in the Grand Auction (11 issues between #3 and #19), including a bunch from the Pacific Coast Collection (five issues between #14 and #19). Every copy, save for two, is the top certified one according to the CGC census. Wonder Woman fans will love the killer group of 9.4-9.8 Silver Age issues (11 books in total), including a few from the PacificCoast pedigree,” he said. “For the Marvel collectors, there is an amazing run of Strange Tales with issues mostly from the Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD run of the title and includes 20 issues, all in 9.4 or higher with many in 9.6 and 9.8. Almost every book in the run is from a recognized pedigree or original owner collection including Boston, Mile High II, PacificCoast, RockyMountain, Valparaiso and Western Penn. Most of the comics in the Strange Tales run have white pages with the rest at off-white to white.”

Many more new books will be listed in the upcoming weeks here on Scoop and daily on the Pedigree Comics website. You can now view over 75 items in the Auction Preview on the site.
