January 13: Los Angeles Comic Book and Science Fiction Convention

The Los Angeles Comic Book And Science Fiction Convention will begin its the 36th year on Sunday, January 13, 2013 with a celebration of Planet of the Apes featuring the largest assembly of stars from the movie and television series. The original film reaches its 45th anniversary in 2013 and the last of the original films reaches its 40th anniversary the same year.

The show will be held at the Shrine Auditorium Expo Center, 700 West 32nd Street, in Los Angeles, CA, across from the University of Southern California, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. All Planet of the Apes Guests will be sign from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM and while there is a fee for an autograph it includes a choice of photo. Regular admission is $8.00 (free for those five years old and younger), and early admission is $12.00.

Appearing from Planet of the Apes will be Linda Harrison (Nova) and Lou Wagner (Lucias), from Battle for the Planet of the Apes will be Austin Stoker (Macdonald), France Nuyen (Alma) and Bobby Porter (Cesar’s son, Cornelius), and from the Planet of the Apes TV series will be Ron Harper (Astronaut Alan Virdon), Booth Colman (Dr. Zaius) and Lee Delano (Malo).

Harrison’s credits include Bracken’s World, Batman and Barnaby Jones, as well as appearing in the 2001 Tim Burton remake (but she’s very nice and we could never hold that against her). Wagner has many genre credentials including Lost in Space, Star Trek: The Next Generation, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, as well as CHiPs, and currently Fox’s Raising Hope.

Stoker’s other credits include Assault on Precinct 13 and Abby, as well as providing the voice for astronaut Jeff Allen in the animated series Return to the Planet of the Apes. In addition to playing Alma in Beneath the Planet of the Apes, Nuyen played the title character of “Elaan of Troyius” on Stark Trek, and worked steadily on stage and television and in film, with credits including Man From U.N.C.L.E., Kung Fu, I Spy, and The Joy Luck Club. Porter’s credits include two episodes of the Planet of the Apes TV series, Quark, Fantastic Journey and Wizards and Warriors.

Harper’s varied career has seen him appear as a regular on Garrison’s Gorillas and Land of the Lost, and guest star on many series ranging from The West Wing to Cold Case.

In addition to such genre offerings as Planet of the Apes, The Outer Limits, and The Invaders, Coleman’s credits include Frasier, My Name is Earl, and The Man Who Wasn’t There. He’ll be celebrating his 90 birthday in 2013 as well.

Delano’s credits include the episode “A Piece of the Action” on the original Star Trek, Mission: Impossible and Charlie’s Angels.
