The 8th annual Mid-Atlantic Nostalgia Convention will be held at the Hunt Valley Wyndham (formerly the Marriott) on Thursday-Saturday, September 19-21, 2013. Celebrities on hand to meet fans and sign autographs Julie Newmar (Catwoman on Batman), Ed Asner (The Mary Tyler Moore Show), Larry Storch (F-Troop), Margaret O’Brien (Meet Me In St. Louis), Robert Loggia (The Sopranos), Norman Lloyd (Alfred Hitchcock’s Saboteur), Diane Sowle (Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory), Johnny Crawford (The Rifleman), Mamie Van Doren, and Elizabeth Shepherd (The Tomb Of Ligeia.

Guest of Honor Garyn Roberts, author of numerous books, will offer a presentation about “Dick Tracy in the Comics, and rare Dick Tracy promo films will also be screened during the weekend.

Other presentation topics will include Gracie Allen’s bid for the Presidency in 1940, a history of Blondie in the comics and on the silver screen, Tarzan in pop culture media, and the premiere screening of a new Lone Ranger documentary.

Fans of the 1958 horror film The Blob will be treated to a screening “at the drive-in” (outside the hotel in the parking lot) at sunset on Friday night. On display all weekend is the Blob silicone that used for the 1958 movie which starred Steve McQueen.

Throughout the weekend, over 200 vendor tables will display collectibles both rare and valuable. Comic books ranging from $1.00 to $10,000 will be available for purchase. 

A charity auction to benefit the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital will allow the public to bid on rare Hollywood items including celebrity autographs donated specifically for the auction. Actress Rhonda Fleming, who generally restricts her signature to charity events, has donated a number of items.

Every year the attendance has grown in size and last year broke new records. Convention promoters are predicting an even larger attendance this year. For more information, visit their website or call (443) 286-6821.
