New Planet of the Apes Trailer Online
We called the first trailer for Dawn of the Planet of the Apes “pretty intriguing.” That doesn’t halfway cover this new one. It looks fantastic and has POTA fans online talking.
The film is the sequel to Twentieth Century Fox’s Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011), which of course was their successful reboot of the long-running Planet of the Apes franchise.
Andy Serkis returns as Caesar in the film that also stars Gary Oldman, Keri Russell, Jason Clarke and Judy Greer, among others. It’s directed by Matt Reeves, who also directed Cloverfield, and it’s due in theaters July 11, 2014.
Based on Pierre Boulle’s novel Monkey Planet, the film franchise launched in 1968 with Planet of the Apes, followed by Beneath The Planet of the Apes (1970), Escape from the Planet of the Apes (1971), Conquest of the Planet of the Apes (1972), and Battle for the Planet of the Apes (1973).
The original films were followed by a TV series, Planet of the Apes (1974), an animated series, Return to the Planet of the Apes (1975), and Tim Burton’s unfortunate remake, Planet of the Apes (2001).
