Titan Comics has launched a trailer for their upcoming Elric: The Ruby Throne Vol. 1, the latest comic book adaptation of the Elric of Melniboné novels by Michael Moorcock.

Written by Julien Blondel and illustrated by Didier Poli and Robin Recht, it is the first of four 64-page, hardcover, full-color volumes adapting the story. It will retail for $12.99 and is featured in the May Previews from Diamond Comic Distributors. It’s due in stores on September 16, 2014.

As Titan describes it, “The ancient island of Melniboné has been ruled by Elric, the albino emperor, for millennia. Reliant on magic and herbs for his strength and prolonged life, Elric’s grip on Melniboné is crumbling, as his people slide into decadence. Now his envious cousin Yyrkoon, Prince of Melniboné, plots to overthrow him and claim the Ruby Throne for himself!”

Moorcock has written the introduction to the volume.
