The latest round of Tuesday-closing auctions at eMoviePoster.com showcase 999 vintage single 8″ x 10″ stills, including 23 autographed ones.

“Why are these still auctions on a Tuesday rather than their usual Sunday, and why are our non-U.S. poster auctions on Sunday instead of their usual Tuesday? Normally we auction non-U.S. posters on Tuesdays and stills on Sundays, but we are auctioning the current non-U.S. posters on Sunday because many of our European bidders have told us that it is inconvenient that those auctions close ‘in the middle of the night’ for them. Because the Sunday auctions end four hours earlier, they don’t have to stay up as late to bid,” said eMoviePoster’s Bruce Hershenson.

“So we “swapped” the stills with the non-U.S. posters. Also, we included 23 signed stills from a consignor who couldn’t wait for our next all signed auction,” he said.

Among the 8” x 10” stills are Steve McQueen (far shot on motorcycle, Life Magazine File copy by Curt Gunther), Audrey Hepburn (full-length portrait), Charlie Chaplin (with hat an cane, but no makeup, visiting London), Ray Harryhausen (signed, mini LC #2 for The 7th Voyage of Sinbad), Susan Hayward (signed), Alice Faye and Betty Grable (signed 1980s repro), several different stills from Blow-Up, Bullitt (Steve McQueen behind the camera to view the setting), A Nun’s Story (Audrey Hepburn), Alien (color, commercial still, chest-burster scene), Two-Lane Blacktop (mini LC #2, James Taylor, Dennis Wilson and Laurie Bird), Bus Stop (color, Don Murray and Marilyn Monroe), and Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs (Tenggren art).

Also up for bid are a 3.5” x 5.5” Chico Marx (signed, 1930s), a 7.5” x 9.25” image from The Great Escape (Steve McQueen), a deluxe 7.5” x 9.5” 1927 frame from The Road To Romance (Ramon Novarro and Marceline Day), a 7.75” x 9.5” 1925 shot of Gloria Swanson from Stage Struck, and 8.25” x 10.25” stills from Le Mans (Steve McQueen) and Allegheny Uprising (John Wayne).

The line-up of slightly bigger 8” x 10.25” stills includes The Misfits (Marilyn Monroe, Montgomery Clift and Clark Gable), The Black Cat (Boris Karloff), Cat On A Hot Tin Roof (Elizabeth Taylor), the 1951 reissue of Snow White & The Seven Dwarfs, Tall In The Saddle (John Wayne and Ward Bond), The Great Escape (Frank McCarthy artwork), Picnic (Kim Novak and William Holden by Coburn), The Spoilers (John Wayne), Good Morning & Goodbye (Alaina Capri), The Heiress (Olivia de Havilland), John Cassavettes’ Husbands (Cassavettes looking through camera on set), The Great Race (Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon), Ruth Warrick (1949), Mae West (1933 portrait from She Done Him Wrong), and Sophia Loren (news photo, 1966 , on the set of Countess From Hong Kong).

From the most recent Tuesday-closing sessions, which featured folded one-sheets, The Man With The Golden Arm (Saul Bass art) sold for $1,406, Saint Joan (also with Saul Bass art), went for $800, and Alfred Hitchcock’s Rope (Jimmy Stewart) realized $460.

“The deadline to consign to our July Major Auction has now passed, and we received a huge number of top consignments at the very end, and this will be one of our best major auctions in many years (see previews of just a few of the upcoming items),” Hershenson said.

“Go to our Consign Page to learn about consigning to us for our regular weekly auctions or for our next major auction, which will be held in September,” he said.
