New York City-based Metropolis Collectibles and ComicConnect attended the July 2014 San Diego Comic-Con.

“San Diego was an incredible show, it had everything,” said Rob Reynolds, ComicConnect’s Director of Consignments. “Amazing consignments, great sales, fun dinners with clients, a great view from my hotel, and one last breakfast at Richard Walker’s pancake house (Santa Fe Omelet with a double order of bacon).”

The company reports they were busy from preview night all the way through Sunday at close. They sold a VF- copy of All Select #1, several mid-grade copies of Amazing Fantasy #15, a gently restored Detective Comics #38, several large groups to collectors including Tomahawk, Superboy, Action, Batman, Wonder Woman, All-American Comics and a dozen other titles.

“The very last day, BAM! a copy Strange Tales #110 CGC 9.6 and the highest graded copy of Batman #13 with a double cover to boot were consigned to the November Event Auction,” Reynolds said. “We were going strong before then but those books really made the show!”

The company’s Event Auction XXIV is currently underway and ends the week of August 25 – August 29, 2014.
