This is the last weekend to consign to the ComicLink Summer Featured Auction, which will go live on August 28, 2014.

In addition to accepting consignments by mail up to right before the auction launch, ComicLink representatives will be set up in booth #523 at Wizard World Chicago, Thursday August 21 through Sunday, August 24, 2014 taking in high quality comic book and original art consignments to add to the auction. They will also be purchasing both comic books and original artwork outright and accepting select consignments for the Exchange and private placement.

“The Summer Featured Auction will highlight valuable, vintage comic books and original comic art and offers sellers a chance to be part of one of the best auctions of the year for both. If you are interested in reaching the most aggressive comic book bidders in the world, we encourage you to contact ComicLink as soon as possible to consign to this auction so that we may reserve auction slots for you and begin promoting your material,” said ComicLink Consignment Director Douglas Gillock.

“Generous cash advances are available, and placement in this auction offers a smart way to generate immediate funds and quick turnaround on the balance. If you are attending the Chicago show, don’t sell the good stuff without stopping by the booth first! It is very likely that you can do better and sell more quickly by working with us. Make sure to get our offer before you sell — you’ll be glad you did,” he said.

The art, of course, doesn’t stop there. From Silver Age mainstays to modern masters, many different styles, genres and top creators are represented.

“Bill Sienkiewicz’s stunning original Elektra Assassin #4 cover painting, which will go off without reserve in this auction, is certainly one of the best — if not the best — covers artistically from the highly acclaimed and wildly popular title run. It is also one of the most impressive pieces that we’ve ever seen put up for sale from this period. Truly, there is nothing else like it.  This is one of the most impressive pieces in the auction thus far, but it is in good company,” Gillock said.

A noteworthy, complete 13-page story introducing the Iron Man prototype, Metallo (and some would say Hulk prototype as well), from Tales of Suspense #16 is offered, as is a Fantastic Four #40 page featuring Dr. Doom vs. the Thing, and the title splash for Journey Into Mystery #112, which is the first in which the Hulk and Thor do battle.

There are stunning pages by Jim Lee — a Batman battle page from the epic Hush storyline, a full page Superman splash, an action-loaded page from his very first X-Men issue, X-Men #248, and a Wildcats cover – and George Pérez’s cover for Tales of the New Teen Titans #1 featuring the origin of Cyborg.

“Everything mentioned in this article is just the tip of the proverbial artwork iceberg for our Summer Featured Auction. New items will be added right up until the auction launch, so we suggest that interested parties bookmark the preview and check back often,” Gillock said.

“If you can’t make it to Wizard World Chicago and want to reserve auction placement for your comic books or artwork for the Summer Featured Auction or other upcoming events, email buysell@comiclink.com with your prospective auction list or call (617) 517-0062, option 1, to speak with Josh Nathanson, Jason Crosby, Sean Goodrich, Jon Signorelli or me.
