Vanguard Upgrades Wally Wood Romance
In advance of its release, Vanguard’s Wally Wood: Torrid Romance collection has received some major upgrades. The page count on the book has increased to 200 pages for the standard edition, and the Deluxe Edition comes in at 220 pages.
The additional content in the Deluxe Edition includes 16 pages of original art and full color endpapers. The cover on the Deluxe Edition has also been enhanced with metallic gold ink and a gloss lamination; the standard edition has also received the gloss laminate upgrade since the original announcement.
Wally Wood, a member of the Jack Kirby Hall of Fame and the Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame, had a hand in creating a number of influential series, including Weird Science, MAD, Daredevil, Power Girl, and Sally Forth. Perhaps his best known contribution to modern comics was with Daredevil #7, which introduced the character’s signature red costume. But before he was writing super-heroic tales, he was creating romance stories.
Amongst the tales collected in Vanguard’s Wally Wood: Torrid Romance are “The Penthouse,” “Dance-Hall Girl,” and “I Was a Delinquent.” Both editions of the book will be available at the end of October 2014.
