Anime USA in DC
Anime USA held its 15th convention at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, D.C. on October 3-5, 2014. Anime and manga fans from all over packed into the hotel for three days of anime screenings, panels, workshops, concerts, and of course cosplay.
Guests featured at Anime USA included voice actors J. Michael Tatum, Michele Knotz, Lauren Landa, Johnny Young Bosch, and Steve Blum, plus many representatives from the industry and cosplay guests. Musical acts Schwartz Stein and Kaya performed and the “visual kei” artists also hosted a tea party for fans.
The Maid Café and Host Club areas returned to the convention this year. Maid Cafés and Host Clubs have been around in Japan for years now, and anime conventions in the U.S. have recently started to emulate them with great success.
