In a report by The Hollywood Reporter, it has been announced that the version of Batman featured heavily in The Lego Movie is getting a spinoff of his own. Will Arnett will voice the character as he did in the 2014 blockbuster animated film. A 2017 release date is currently planned.

Batman’s appearance in The Lego Movie was considered one of the film’s many high points, as Arnett took the character to such an extreme that it was almost more of a parody than a sincere portrayal. Batman’s Lego form has been popular before the film came out, though, as multiple Lego Batman video games have already released to wide acclaim. Lego Batman 3: Beyond Gotham releases on November 11, 2014.
