Griffey’s Blast, Miracles and More at Heritage
Baseball season might be wrapping up, but Heritage’s Sports Collectible Catalog Auction is just getting started. While baseball is the most heavily-featured sport in the catalog with more than 2,000 items, there’s also plenty of notable basketball, football, and hockey items, among many others. The three bidding sessions will take place on November 6-8, 2014.
The most prominently featured item in the catalog is Ken Griffey, Jr.’s 600th Career Home Run Baseball. Junior was playing for the Cincinnati Reds on June 9, 2008 when he blasted a pitch thrown by the Marlins’ Mark Hendrickson 413 feet away. Junior became the sixth member of the 600 home run club, and he currently still ranks sixth on MLB’s all-time home run leaderboard with 630 total career dingers.
If you fancy your sports on ice, there happens to be an item from easily the most legendary game in United States hockey history featured in the auction. John Harrington’s game-worn jersey from the 1980 “Miracle on Ice” game will hit the auction block on November 6. Harrington was credited with an assist on the game-winning goal by Mike Eruzione.
But these items hardly scratch the surface of Heritage’s catalog. There’s everything from late 19th Century baseball cards to World Series rings and countless game-worn items in between. Have a full look at what Heritage has to offer this fall at their website.
