Outreach for Katy Beerbohm
Last week Scoop informed the collecting community about the illness plaguing Katy Beerbohm, daughter of Bob Beerbohm, a veteran comics retailer, historian, and Overstreet Advisor. Katy has been afflicted with Erythema Multiforme Major which is a rare skin condition that causes painful burn marks to appear all over her body. The disease ranges from mild rashes to the more severe form that Katy has.
The situation has been made worse by the mounting cost of medical bills as Katy and her family try to focus on her care, comfort, and pain management. The family is seeking help to pay for these bills as worrying about money is making a difficult situation worse. Donations can be made at gofundme.com.
Many collectors have met Katy while visiting Bob Beerbohm’s booth over the years at conventions. She has been attending shows since 1981 when she was toddling around at age two.
Her father has said that the burn marks that have been appearing are akin to second- and third-degree burns causing extreme pain. She is currently in the referral process to the Mayo Clinic.
