Last week Scoop informed the collecting community about the illness plaguing Katy Beerbohm, daughter of Bob Beerbohm, a veteran comics retailer, historian, and Overstreet Advisor. Katy has been afflicted with Erythema Multiforme Major which is a rare skin condition that causes painful burn marks to appear all over her body. The disease ranges from mild rashes to the more severe form that Katy has.

The situation has been made worse by the mounting cost of medical bills as Katy and her family try to focus on her care, comfort, and pain management. Many collectors have met Katy while visiting Bob Beerbohm’s booth over the years at conventions. She has been attending shows since 1981 when she was toddling around at age two.

Her father has said that the burn marks that have been appearing are akin to second- and third-degree burns causing extreme pain. She is currently in the referral process to the Mayo Clinic.
