January 18: Philadelphia Comic-Con
The Philadelphia Comic-Con is back, on Sunday, January 18, 2015. It is quite a site to behold with over 60 tables in the 4,500 square foot ballroom of the hotel. Dealers from five states setup there selling, buying, and even trading with collectors. Thousands and thousands of comic books from the 1940s to present day will be for sale at the show. Also available will be collecting supplies, graphic novels, action figures, statues, non-sportcards, DVDs, and original artwork. The show has become a fan favorite for years with people travelling up to three hours one way just to shop at the show.
Special guest artists at this show are DC and Marvel Comics artists Darren Auck and Paris Cullins and web comic creator Bob Gerkin. Auck is also an instructor at the Joe Kubert School for Comic Art and will be available all day for sketches and to also give advice to potential artists looking for a review of their work. Cullins is now working on “WWE Superstars” written by ex-wrestler and fan favorite Mick Foley, and will be available during show hours for sketches and signatures.
This comic book convention is held at the Clarion Hotel located at 76 Industrial Highway (Route 291) in Essington, PA 19029. The hotel is conveniently located off of exit 9A from I-95. It is also close to I-76, I-476 and most bridges from New Jersey.
