Game of Thrones Heading to IMAX
Game of Thrones has become one of the highest rated television shows, reaching 7.2 million viewers for the season finale last spring. Due to the immense success and the incredible action sequences played out in the show, it will become the first TV series released at IMAX.
Beginning in two weeks on Friday, January 23, 2015 HBO is releasing the last two episodes of season four and an exclusive trailer for season five in IMAX in a movie format. The show has been digitally remastered and will air in 150 IMAX theaters for one week. The action packed Battle of Castle Black in “The Watchers on the Wall” and Emmy-nominated season finale “The Children” will be treated to the giant screen experience for fans of George R.R. Martin’s fantasy book and television series.
This opportunity presents a win-win situation for fans and HBO, offering viewers the chance to see the epic TV show on the big screen and HBO the opportunity to gain more fans and showcase Game of Thrones in a way no other show has been aired. “We are always looking to provide fans with new and exciting ways to experience the show and viewing two key episodes, along with the new trailer, on such an impressive platform makes for a great event,” said Pamela Levine, chief marketing officer at HBO.
Season five is set to begin in April.
