Congratulations to our friend Leonard Maltin, who received a Special Citation from his fellow critics at the Los Angeles Film Critics Association dinner in Los Angeles last week.

“Robert Abele of the Los Angeles Times paid me tribute, while holding a copy of the book he’s had since he was 11 years-old,” Maltin wrote on his site (and if you haven’t checked it out, it’s a great resource).

Following Abele’s speech, he introduced Maltin’s daughter, Jessie, who “…wiped me out with the loveliest words you can imagine.” Her speech, he said, was followed by a standing ovation.

While we continue to lament the end of the print incarnation of Maltin’s movie guide, it – and he – deserve many more honors.
