Among the rarest and most highly sought after of Golden Age comics, some amazingly beautiful copies of early Action Comics and Detective Comics are now open for bids in the current ComicConnect Winter Special Auction. “This is the kind of meticulous material Golden Age collectors dream of, all in one auction. I couldn’t be prouder to offer such a fantastic lot of hard-to-find treasures in one auction,” Rob Reynolds, Director of Consignments said.

Graced with iconic work by practically all the pioneers of the early superhero genre, these issues boast career defining art and classic tales from many of comics’ most revered luminaries, including Superman creator Joe Shuster, Batman creator Bob Kane, as well as beloved Golden Age stalwarts Bernard Baily, Wayne Boring, Fred Guardineer, Fred Ray, Sheldon Moldoff, and Jerry Robinson. Many of the most respected Golden Age pedigrees are represented in the collection, including the Twilight pedigree, the Recil Macon collection, and a whopping half-dozen Rockfords.

“It’s exciting to see the first Joker story in Detective Comics in this collection,” continued Reynolds. “Plus first appearances by Clayface and Two-Face, the first Krypto Raygun, and the second Lois Lane cover in Action Comics, some of these being the highest graded copies on the census! In the nearly three dozen major ComicConnect auctions, based on grade, rarity, and quality, this is one the best groups of Action Comics and Detective Comics we’ve ever offered and some of the nicest examples of scarce Superman and Batman comics I’ve ever worked with.”

The auction end-dates are as follows:
