Tiffany, Lalique & Art Glass Surpass $1.2M at Heritage

Holiday shopping was done early in the Tiffany, Lalique & Art Glass auction at Heritage. The November 23, 2015 sale in Dallas, Texas totaled over $1.2 million. Among the highlights was a Tiffany Studios Favrile glass Floriform vase, circa 1900-1920, sold above the estimate, realizing $48,750.

“Auction results for top market artworks by Rene Lalique remain strong and I was pleased to see collectors recognize this auction’s selection of particularly rare designs,” said Nick Dawes, Vice President of Special Collections at Heritage. “Consignors are very happy.”

A Tiffany opalescent Favrile glass and bronze fire screen circa 1905 and stamped “Tiffany Studios, New York” sold for $75,000. Tiffany garnered impressive results with a leaded glass and bronze Daffodil table lamp on a Twisted Vine base hit $68,750, a leaded glass and bronze Turtleback tile table lamp closed at $40,000, a fine leaded glass and bronze Poinsettia table lamp on a Mushroom base realized $30,000, and a gilt bronze and Favrile glass 12-light Lily lamp hammered for $23,125.

R. Lalique art glass was led by a Lord Dunsany’s clear and frosted glass Souris cachet with gray patina ended at $37,500. Other R. Lalique pieces included an opalescent glass Ceylan vase which sold for $35,000, an opalescent glass Bacchantes vase realized $30,000, and a yellow cased opalescent glass Perruches vase with bronze base brought $20,000.

Other highlights included a Fanny Volmers oil on canvas by Louis Icart that sold for $16,250, Two Women & Borzois by Icart ended at $12,500, limited edition Lalique frosted glass Paradoxe statue realized $15,000, an R. Lalique clear and frosted glass Bouchon Cassis perfume brought $13,750, and a monumental Chihuly Ikebana glass vase reached $10.000.
