Sylvester Stallone Collection at Heritage
Collectors of movie memorabilia will soon have the opportunity to own pieces of iconic modern Hollywood memorabilia, through the Sylvester Stallone collection at Heritage. The collection features Rocky Balboa’s boxing gloves or John Rambo’s army jacket, among many other things.
Before the auction collectors in Southern California will have the chance to view the items when they are on display at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles, California. They will be available for viewing December 16-19, 2015.
Since the 1970s, Stallone has been one of the biggest stars in film, as an actor, writer, and director. Stallone – the Collection features hundreds of costumes and props from Rocky, Rambo, and The Expendables. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to charities and other organizations that help veterans and wounded members of the U.S. military.
The auction will take place at the hotel and online on December 18-20. It will be held in the California Showroom of the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza Hotel, 2025 Avenue of the Stars, Los Angeles.
“I thought other people would really appreciate them,” Stallone said about consigning the memorabilia. “So, rather than keep them in the dark, in storage, and just forget about them, I thought, let me just pass them on,” he shared in an interview in Heritage’s The Intelligent Collector magazine.
“The auction will have 800 lots of props, costumes and personal items consigned by Mr. Stallone that will be available to his fans worldwide. He is an international superstar, and these items include some of the iconic, cultural symbols of clothing and props from his most famous and loved action films, the Rocky and Rambo series,” said Greg Rohan, President of Heritage Auctions.
Highlights in the auction are the black leather jacket and Rocky Marciano pendant from Rocky, boxing gloves and “eye of the tiger” jacket from Rocky II, Rocky’s boxing trunks from Rocky III, white “Balboa” boxing robe from Rocky IV, U.S. Army flag patch jacket from First Blood, the motorcycle he rode in Rocky III and V, as well as costumes and props from other films like Judge Dredd and The Expendables.
“We’ve had a tremendous response from Mr. Stallone’s fans around the world since the auction was first announced in July,” Rohan said.
