Kim McGuire, the actress best known for playing Hatchet-Face in 1990’s Cry-Baby, died on September 14, 2016. She was 60 years old.

She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1955. Her initial career plan was to become an attorney like her father, by attending the University of New Orleans and then Loyola University School of Law.

Her role as Mona “Hatchet-Face” Malnorowski in John Waters’ Cry-Baby was her first onscreen appearance. She followed that with roles in On the Air, Acting on Impulse, Serial Mom, New York Undercover, and Zork: Nemesis from 1992 to 1996.

From there she worked as an attorney in Los Angeles, specializing in entertainment and appellate law. She and her husband moved to Biloxi, Mississippi where she worked as an attorney and got involved with local theater. In September 2005 she and her husband were left temporarily homeless following the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. They reestablished in Alabama two months later and she resubmitted to the California State Bar in 2010.
