Origin of Term “Fanboy” Heads to Heritage
A collection of Underground related rare fanzines and flyers is heading to Heritage Auctions’ Sunday Internet Comics Auction, and one of the books in said collection is believed to be the origin of the term “fanboy.”
The collection includes Alfred Judson’s Fan Boy #5, recognized by many as the first published used of the term. The term’s place in nerd and pop culture makes this a significant opportunity for collectors. Other books in the lot include fanzines Grist #9, and Dry Ice, as well as hand-colored flyers for The Ned Sonntag Studio. Grades in the collection range from Very Good to Excellent.
