Heritage Sunday Auction Features Fantastic Four, Thor
Comics depicting battles with large foes are featured in the current Sunday Internet Comics Auction at Heritage. Highlights in the selection closing on September 9, 2018 include Fantastic Four #49 and Thor #126.
In the second of a three-part series, Fantastic Four #49 CGC 8.0 contains the second appearance of the Silver Surfer and debut of Galactus, the cosmic entity. The monstrous Galactus, created by Jack Kirby and Stan Lee, appears on the cover as a forebodingly large figure, hovering over the Fantastic Four. This issue features art and cover by Kirby and marks the first cover for both Silver Surfer and Galactus.
Thor #126 FN/VF sees Thor, the God of Thunder and founding member of the Avengers, clashing with Hercules, another extraordinarily strong member of the Avengers. The two giant, muscular figures appear in mid-battle on the cover in a story that sees Hercules pulled from the past by the villain Immortus. This issue depicts art and cover by Kirby and is the first issue in the title after the name was changed from Journey Into Mystery.
These comics will be sold within the 796-lot auction of comic books, original comic art, and memorabilia. Bidding opens at 6 PM ET on ha.com.
