Metropolis Collectibles Shares C2E2 Report
“Last weekend’s [Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo] was one of our best ever Chicago conventions,” said Vincent Zurzolo, co-owner of Metropolis Collectibles. “The Windy City is a personal favorite and the passionate collectors that came to the show really gave our team a warm welcome.”
As a comic book expert, Zurzolo was invited to appear on Chicago radio and television broadcasts to discuss the comic market. On WGN Radio, Zurzolo recounted how he was able to turn the hobby into a multi-million dollar business. On WWTW television, Zurzolo displayed millions of dollars in comics and original comic art that he had for sale at the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo (C2E2).
At the show, Metropolis reported sales of a Legend of Zelda Nintendo NES game WATA 8.5 for $14,000, a J. Scott Campbell Amazing Spider-Man #2 Spider-Gwen variant cover sold for $8,500, and the original cover for DC Special Blue Ribbon Digest #24 featuring Cain went home with a collector for $6,000.
“For our auction house, ComicConnect, we signed agreements worth nearly a half-million dollars during C2E2,” Zurzolo added. “With over half of the top 20 comics ever sold, ComicConnect has become the premier auction house for investment collectors the world-over.”
“We’ll be attending shows throughout the year so check our schedule to find out when we’re coming to your area,” Zurzolo said.
