On Friday through Sunday, May 1-3, 2020, Awesome Con will host a virtual gathering of fans, artists, and special guests. Awesome Con Online is happening in lieu of the regular convention, which has been postponed to December 11-13.

The Washington, DC-based con, supported by Third Eye Comics and Oni Press, is hosting a free virtual three-day event with vendors, virtual Artist Alley and Maker’s Market pavilions, a virtual costume contest, panels and programming with guests, movie screenings, games, a virtual fun run, celebrity live chats, giveaways, and personalized merchandise.

All of the exhibitors, artists, and guests are participating for free and all revenue collected from purchased event sponsored merchandise, autographs, or pledged donations will directly support The Red Cross relief efforts.

In addition to the main page, many events will live stream on Awesome Con’s Facebook page. Guests can RSVP for updates and to follow along.

Friday’s events include the Awesome Con short Film Festival, screening of Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, and virtual cosplay karaoke.

Saturday’s activities include the panels Careers at a Glimpse: NASA, Sci-Fi on TV: The Best and the Brightest, The Marvel Cinematic Universe with Nerdy Notions, Modern Journey of the Comic Book: From Creation to Store Shelves and Every Step in Between, and My Favorite Alien. Zachary Levi (Shazam!) and Ross Marquand (The Walking Dead) will do live Q&As in which fans can submit questions. Other events include a trivia contest and screening of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.

Sunday will focus on the artists and vendors with demos on creating jewelry, masks, artwork, and cosplay, among other topics. There will also be a virtual costume contest and screening of Tangled.

Other activities include the virtual fun run, the opportunity to buy con merchandise, and Awesome Con Jr. activities.

The full slate of programing, including schedules and links for specific content can be found on the Awesome Con Online page.
