The Society of Illustrators (SI) will host a slate of comic-centric events in October 2020.

The Art Out Loud Online event featuring Summer Pierre takes place on Friday, October 9 at 12 PM ET/9 PM PT. This is part of SI’s “At Your Service” programs in which illustrators provide live demos and studio tours on Instagram.

The next event is the Women in Comics: Curator Talk with Trina Robbins and Kim A. Munson on Monday, October 12 at 6:30 PM ET/3:30 PM PT. Robbins and Munson will be joined by pop culture journalist Rob Salkowitz to discuss the superstar women cartoonists from comics history to today. This will be held on Zoom and has a $10 admission.

The Women in Comics: Artist Talk will be the following Monday, October 19 at 6:30 PM ET/3:30 PM PT. Artists Colleen Doran, Trinidad Escobar, Emil Ferris, Ebony Flowers, Lee Marrs, and Alitha Martinez will participate in a discussion moderated by exhibition curator Kim A. Munson. Held on Zoom, the admission is $10.

Then the Welcome to the New World: Michael Sloan, Jake Halpern, and Steve Brodner is on Monday, October 26 at 7 PM ET/4 PM PT. They will have a conversation about the humanizing power of comics and a view of the immigrant experience. This is a free event on Zoom.
