Pokémon card collecting is a lucrative hobby with headline-grabbing sales in growing numbers. One that’ll get plenty of collector attention is heading to Heritage for their Comics & Comic Art Auction on January 14-15, 2020.

The Pokémon Charizard #4 first edition base set rare hologram trading card PSA GEM MT 10 is arguably the hottest card in the entire hobby. Mitsuhiro Arita provided the art for this card, which is one of just 2,627 copies certified by PSA. This mint condition example could sell for more than $350,000.

“This is an incredible card, one that collectors have been chasing to make the centerpiece of their collections,” Heritage Assistant Comics & Comic Art Operations Supervisor Jesus Garcia said. “The demand and prices paid for this card are sky high, especially in this condition. It is an absolute must-have for the most serious of collectors.”

Charizard began as Charmander, who was in the Indigo series as a nice, innocent character. He evolved into a more rebellious character, eventually becoming Charizard.

Another top lot from the trading card game is the Pokémon first edition base set sealed booster box. It contains 36 booster packs, each with 11 cards for a total of 396 cards. Created by Wizards of the Coast in 1999, they were made in a low print run, making these box sets highly desirable with collectors.

About 30 Pokémon lots will be in this auction, including Pokémon Charizard #4 first edition base set rare hologram trading card PSA Mint 9, Pokémon first edition Jungle set sealed booster box, Pokémon demo game sealed booster pack PSA GEM MT 10, Pokémon Blastoise first edition base set #2 rare hologram trading card (1999) PSA Mint 9, and Pokémon Venusaur #15 first edition base set rare hologram trading card (1999) PSA Mint 9.
