Warner Bros. Shifts Superhero Film Release Schedule
Warner Bros. has made changes to their 2022-2023 film release schedule, affecting upcoming superhero and other high profile movies.
First up, the animated feature DC League of Super-Pets has been moved to July 29, 2022, from its previous date of May 20. Black Adam, starring Dwayne Johnson, is now scheduled for October 21, 2022, bumped back from the original date of July 29.
Zachary Levi is back as the lightning shooting hero in Shazam! Fury of the Gods, which will be released on December 16, 2022, moving forward from the previous date of June 2, 2023. Jason Momoa returns to the sea in Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom with a new date of March 17, 2023, moving from December 16, 2022. The Flash, Ezra Miller’s solo outing, has been bumped to June 23, 2023, from the original date of November 4, 2022.
As expected, the delays are due to COVID-19, which affected schedules and visual effects turnaround time.
Outside of the superhero movies, Warner Bros. also moved Wonka, which will now be released on December 15, 2023, rather than March 17, 2023. Meg 2: The Trench with Jason Statham is now set to open on August 4, 2023.
