A Jim Lee Spawn illustration, Beast’s debut, and early copies of Joystick magazine are among the top lots in Heritage’s weekly auctions. The Comic Books Select Auction closes on Sunday through Tuesday, July 9-11, 2023, the Video Game Mini-Boss Auction ends on Tuesday, July 11, and the Comic Art & Animation Auction concludes on Wednesday, July 12.

The original art auction features a Spawn illustration by Image Comics cofounder Jim Lee, who gives the character a distinctive, powerful look. The Bernie Wrightson and Shepherd Hendrix Captain Sternn: Running Out of Time #2 splash shows the evil Filmore Coffers from the second series that starred Captain Sternn.

In the comics auction, Heritage is offering Amazing Adventures #11 with the first appearance of Beast from the X-Men. The Batman: Mask of the Phantasm #nn prestige format CGC 9.4 adapts the 1994 animated film and is the first comic appearance of the Phantasm.

The video game auction is led by Who Framed Roger Rabbit WATA 9.6 A+ sealed (oval SOQ TM) for NES, based on the live-action/animated movie from 1988. Joystick Vol. 1 #1 CGC 9.2 and #3 CGC 9.6 are early gaming collectibles made years before Nintendo Power hit newsstands.
