A teenage orphan learns that the perfect family is hiding dangerous secrets in The Carvers. The comic follows a boy in the foster system who is taken in by a family that appears ideal, but as he experiences their wealth, he starts to see a darker picture. Writer and filmmaker Breyden Boyd is making his comics debut with the series and is joined by artist by Nathan Wells. The comic from BOOM! Studios begins in February 2027.

“I’ve been working on The Carvers for the last few years. It’s the passion project I never gave up on and the subject of a lot of late-night-turned-early-morning writing sessions,” Boyd said. “Like any good slasher, it’s been waiting in the shadows for the right time to strike. That time is now. We couldn’t be more excited to let it loose upon the world. If you’re into Halloween, alt rock, puppy dogs, bloodstained sweaters, or just good old-fashioned family bonding time, come party with us!”

Max has been living in the foster system for a long time and it has left him jaded about meeting potential new parents. Despite his low expectations, Max is pleasantly surprised when he meets the wealthy Carvers who want to take him in. But Max soon learns about the bloody secret inside his affluent new home.

“Like any good slasher, we wanted to craft The Carvers as a story that feels somewhat grounded in our reality and one where the masked killers could be waiting in a dark hallway or behind a door that may feel vaguely familiar,” Wells said. “Luckily the only place you’ll find The Carvers stalking is a shelf at your local comic book shop. Check it out! Thrills, laughs and at times Raimi levels of blood await!”

The Carvers #1 will arrive in comic shops in February 10, 2027.
