Metropolis/ComicConnect made high profile sales at New York Comic Con (NYCC), and now they are preparing to open Event Auction 68 on Monday, November 16, 2026.

This year’s NYCC was busy right from the start with Metropolis/ComicConnect offering two copies of Superman’s debut in Action Comics #1 for sale. Metropolis/ComicConnect President Vincent Zurzolo kicked off Friday morning by selling Action Comics #1 CGC 9.0 Restored for $1.3 million. They also sold a raw low grade copy of Action Comics #1 sold for $825,000 to John Dolmayan of Torpedo Comics.

Those two sales add to Metropolis/ComicConnect’s already big tally for Action Comics #1 sales in 2026. Earlier in the year, they sold a CGC 9.0 copy for a record $15 million in a private sale. Then they sold a CGC 7.0 for $5 million in a direct sale on the website.

Collectors also got a first look at original art and comics in the upcoming Event Auction 68. It includes early Superman titles such as Action Comics #9 and Action Comics #15 (both with Fred Guardineer covers). Joe Shuster’s work on Action Comics #10 and Action Comics #20, and Superman #2 were also displayed at the show.

ComicConnect also revealed at NYCC that the upcoming Event Auction 68 will feature the complete original art for Sanford Greene’s 2024 Doom one-shot comic. It’s a book that actor Robert Downey, Jr. called “essential” reading on the set of the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

Metropolis/ComicConnect was also at NYCC to meet with collectors to buy comics and original art.

“In 2026 alone, we’ve sold six copies of Action Comics #1!” Zurzolo said. “That brings our total sales of Action Comic #1 to close to 80 issues over the company’s 27-year existence. I’ve loved comic books ever since I was a kid – but when I was selling $1 comic books out of bins in my teens, I never imagined I’d be selling the biggest comics in the world!”

ComicConnect is still taking consignments for Event Auction 68. Original art consignors can reach out to Harry Kassen at harrisonk@metropoliscomics.com; sellers can also contact Peter Barbella at peterb@metropoliscomics.com, or call (212) 260-4147 and toll free at (888) 779-7377.
