ComicConnect’s Special Edition Amazing Spider-Man Original Art Auction closed with the $184,000 sale of John Romita’s Amazing Spider-Man #39 page 15. The art comes from the moment when Green Goblin learns that Spider-Man is secretly Peter Parker.

This winning bid comes after ComicConnect’s June sale of a Romita page from Amazing Spider-Man #30 for $212,750. The Special Edition Auction also saw impressive sales for Gil Kane’s pencils from Amazing Spider-Man #96 and #97. These pieces marked Kane’s history-making debut on the title with the first mainstream comics to be published without clearance from the Comics Code Authority.

ComicConnect is still taking consignments for Event Auction 68, which opens on Monday, November 16. Original art consignors can reach out to Harry Kassen at harrisonk@metropoliscomics.com; sellers can also contact Peter Barbella at peterb@metropoliscomics.com, or call (212) 260-4147 and toll free at (888) 779-7377.
