Actor Dennis Haskins, who played Mr. Belding in Saved by the Bell, died on Monday, September 28, 2026. A cause of death was not given; Haskins was 75 years old.

He was reportedly a regular customer at Dimples Karaoke Bar in Burbank, California. The bar’s Instagram account posted about Haskins’ death, stating that he had Parkinson’s Disease, but did not make it public.

Haskins first played Principal Richard Belding in the junior high-set Good Morning, Miss Bliss from 1988 to ’89. He starred in all four seasons of Saved by the Bell from ’89 to ’93, in Saved by the Bell: The New Class from ’93 to 2000, and two TV movies. Mr. Belding was a comically nerdy principal with a recognizable laugh who kept the teens in line and occasionally doled out fatherly advice.

He was born on November 18, 1950, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, and attended the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga. Primarily a TV actor, Haskins’ first onscreen role was in Archie Bunker’s Place in 1981. He did guest spots on multiple shows like CHiPs, Knots Landing, The Dukes of Hazzard, and Magnum, P.I. before taking the role of Mr. Belding.

In the ‘90s, he was in episodes Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper, The Practice, The West Wing, and 7th Heaven through the ‘90s. Haskins appeared in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Men of a Certain Age, The Bold and the Beautiful, Mad Men, and How I Met Your Mother. He starred in A Million Ways to Die in the West, Hot in Cleveland, Bill Nye Saves the World, and his final role was in A Bennett Song Holiday in 2020.

Haskins made one last appearance as Principal Belding in 2015 during a sketch on Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
