Crowdfunding campaigns are home to many interesting comics looking for funding. We found several this week including new story arcs, anniversary editions, crossovers, and comic-related content. Some of the hot new titles are Nexus Triplets, Street Fighter X Kamen America: Championship Edition, Shadow Ghost #1 and #2, Sherlock Holmes and the Empire Builders Calendar 2027, Freshman: The Complete Collection, and the Zombie Redemption movie.

Nexus Triplets

Nexus is back for the new 72-page graphic novel, Nexus: Triplets, by writer-co-creator Mike Baron and artist Kelsey Shannon. The book follows the successful campaigns for Nexus: Scourge and Nexus Deluxe Omnibus Vol. 1.

The Squiblets are five-year-old triplets who share one mind that stretches across the universe. The CYNdicate kidnaps the telepathic kids to use their power to cheat financial markets throughout all of space. Nexus, the hero who has the power of a living sun, is the only man willing to save them. Unfortunately, Nexus crosses through black holes that siphon his solar energy, thereby diminishing his abilities. To save the kids, Nexus will face bounty hunters, monsters, exploding planets, and a talking bear, eventually returning to being the Gunslinger.

The softcover edition is $25, and a signed hardcover is $45. The Kickstarter campaign is open until October 9, 2006.

Street Fighter X Kamen America: Championship Edition

Street Fighter does battle with Kamen America in the 48-page graphic novel, Street Fighter X Kamen America: Championship Edition. M. Bison, the crime boss who leads Shadaloo, is trying to expand his forces by recruiting fighters through the World Warrior Tournament and brainwashing warriors into his Doll program. Carly Vanders was a normal girl until a hit by cosmic debris gave her the power to manipulate her bio-electricity. She became the henshin heroine Kamen America and formed the Kamen Corps with her friends.

“When M. Bison targets a member of the Kamen Corps for his doll program, Interpol agent Chun-Li and armed forces member Guile set up a sting operation disguised as a tournament that uses the other Corps members – including Kamen America – as bait to lure Shadaloo into a trap. However, as the tournament progresses, twists and turns complicate this endeavor as new challengers enter the fray!” the description reads.

The book is priced at $12, and there are several options that include deluxe editions and other merchandise. The campaign closes on October 19.

Shadow Ghost #1 and #2

Shadow Ghost: The Kung Fu comic by a Kung Fu Master is exactly what it sounds like: a comic about Kung Fu created by a master of the martial arts. The book is written and drawn by real Kung Fu Master Sifu Kurtis Fujita who brings authenticity to the series. The first two issues will be open for backing on Kickstarter soon; interested readers can sign up to be notified when it launches.

Sherlock Holmes and the Empire Builders Calendar 2027

Tripwire Magazine is taking their art to a new level that Sherlock Holmes fans can enjoy all year long. Their Sherlock Holmes and The Empire Builders graphic novel series art will be featured in a 2027 calendar.

Artists Walter Simonson (Thor), Dan Panosian (Conan), Frazer Irving (Batman), Laurence Campbell (The One Hand), Mark Chiarello (Batman: The Last Halloween), and Shawn Martinbrough (Thief of Thieves) are all featured in the calendar. The physical copy is £21 (about $29) and signed calendars are also available. The Kickstarter campaign ends on September 29.

Freshman: The Complete Collection

Seth Green and Hugh Sterbakov’s Freshmen comic series is celebrating its 20th anniversary. The story follows socially awkward first year college students who develop superpowers after a laboratory accident. Their powers range from powerful, like telepathy, to just plain silly, like being sticky. They are releasing a new hardcover edition that collects the entire run, plus a new one-shot. It is open for backing on Kickstarter from Top Cow Productions.

The Freshmen: Complete Collection contains all 12 issues from the first and second volumes, the digital exclusive issue 1.5 from volume two, Freshman Summer Vacation Special, and bonus material that was previously printed in Freshman Yearbook.

The standard hardcover with 450 pages of content is $39, and a copy signed by Green and Sterbakov with an exclusive dustjacket, enamel pins, and a print is $75. The campaign is open until September 17.

Zombie Redemption Movie

Zombie Redemption is a George Romero-inspired movie that features actors who appeared in the iconic director’s films. In this movie by director Mike Ancas (Chasing Zombies: A Tribute to George Romero), zombies are intelligent, non-violent members of society. When a young girl is killed, a human detective (Jeff Monahan) and a zombie ex-priest and psychotherapist (Mark Tierno) work together to solve her murder and calm the worried community.

Ancas and Brenda Ancas (Chasing Giants) wrote the script. The movie also stars Lori Cardille, John Amplas, Jeff Monahan, Jeanie Jefferies, Sharon Hill, Debra Lynn Gordon, Eugene Clark, and John Russo. The Kickstarter campaign pledges include $30 for a signed script, $35 for the numbered Blu-ray, and $150 to add a message to the credits, among other pledge levels. The campaign is open until October 19.
