This year on Batman Day, DC is celebrating with not one, but two Dark Knights. Their Batman of Two Worlds one-shot will tell stories starring the mainstream Batman and Absolute Batman and their different versions of Gotham City. The global event is scheduled for September 19, 2026.

Crafted to show the different interpretations of the Caped Crusader, the book will tell two stories that present each Batman’s method of preventing crime. The Batman story is written by Matt Fraction with art by Javi Fernández and colors by Tomeu Morey. The Absolute Batman tale is by Scott Snyder, artist Nick Derington, and colorist Frank Martin. It comes with a cover by Jorge Jiménez, Nick Dragotta, and Martin.

“Without giving too much away, both stories are about theft, what theft means in one world versus the other, and what Batman’s form of justice looks like in each,” Snyder said. “That was the guiding principle that gave us the opportunity to tell two stories that celebrate each interpretation.”

“At the heart of it, it’s really simple. One problem, two solutions. Each version of Batman has his own way of working and his own solution to that problem. The fun was putting them side by side so you can see the similarities, the differences, and the unique flavor and texture of each world,” Fraction said.

DC is releasing five hardcover collections on Batman Day. Batman Vol. 1: Daylight by Fraction and Jiménez has a Batman Day cover by Jiménez that pays homage to Dragotta’s Absolute Batman #1 cover. Batman ’89 by Sam Hamm and Joe Quinones has an exclusive dust jacket with art inspired by the 1989 Batman film and a digital code for the movie. Batman: The Dark Knight Returns Deluxe Edition by Miller has a new cover by Raymond Swanland with art from the animated adaptations, and it comes with a digital code for the animated films. The new hardcovers are rounded out by Batman: H2SH Volume One by Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee, and Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham – The Deluxe Edition by Rafael Grampá.

Participating comic shops will have Batman Day paper masks based on Batman, Absolute Batman, Hush Batman, and Dark Knight Returns Batman. Ryan Sook drew the masks in the styles of Jiménez, Dragotta, Jim Lee, and Frank Miller.

DC is also offering digital deals. Their digital comics platform will have free to read Batman comics that include Absolute Batman #1-3 and the complete Batman: Wayne Family Adventures. DC Universe Infinite partnered with WB Games to give members free Batcave Props in LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. They will also offer a 30-day free trial for an Ultra Monthly plan on DCUI.
