Negasonic Teenage Warhead is a very powerful telepathic mutant who can read minds and project her own thoughts into the minds of others. She can construct physical objects using her mind, manipulate reality, send out blasts of energy, and fly. Like several other mutants, Negasonic has been a villain and a hero as a member of the Hellfire Club, Mercs for Money, and the X-Men.

She was born Eloise “Ellie” Phimister, and got her unique name from the song “Negasonic Teenage Warhead” by Monster Magnet. Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely created and introduced her 25 years ago in New X-Men #115 (August 2001).

Ellie was a Genoshan who was taking Emma Frost’s telepathy class when she had the same dream 50 times in one night in which the people of Genosha were all killed. While recounting the dream and the fact that she’d had a similar experience during class, Cassandra Nova’s Wild Sentinels attacked Genosha and slaughtered 16 million people, including Ellie.

Later, Negasonic Teenage Warhead was seen alive as a part of the Hellfire Club with Cassandra Nova, Emma Frost, Sebastian Shaw, and Perfection. When The Hellfire Club attacked the Xavier Institute, Negasonic had a dream that Shadowcat would lose control of her intangibility and phase to the Earth’s core. Shadowcat did lose control of her power when she learned of the dream.

During the Marvel Now! relaunch, Ellie was alive and living a normal life in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Deadpool and the Mercs for Money were hired to capture her for Umbral Dynamics, though they did not know that the organization planned to siphon her power away. The plan was to give the power to Presence, but Negasonic was rescued and Presence was defeated. She joined Domino’s version of the Mercs for Money, unaware that her teammate Hit-Monkey was observing her for S.H.I.E.L.D. because they were concerned about her powers.

Negasonic created an alternate future when she intervened during the Inhumans vs. X-Men storyline, causing the conflict to continue ceaselessly. She went into hiding with other mutants in the Amazon, attempting to evade the Inhuman Lash, but Deadpool unintentionally brought Lash to the hidden mutants. He attacked them, and Negasonic traveled back in time to prevent herself from changing the timeline and causing the war-torn future.

She started working with Deadpool again when she had a vision she would cause a multi-dimensional infraction that would destroy all of reality. The Time Variance Authority confronted her and planned to erase her to protect the space-time continuum. Emma Frost, Deadpool, Jean Grey, Sue Storm, and Wanda Maximoff intervened, saving Ellie from being erased and showing her how to avoid causing the destruction.
