IDW; $4.99

Ever hear the phrase, "don't poke the bear"? Someone should have said it to Kylie Hart before she made a deal with a serial killer.

Killer Influences is a comic about murder and fame. Melvin is a socially awkward factory worker living with his father – who also likes to murder people. Kylie is an aspiring true crime podcaster that figured out Melvin's identity. Instead of turning him in to the police, Kylie suggested a partnership. He would keep killing and give her enough insight to use for a podcast that would make her rich and him famous.

The second issue picks up 14 months later with Kylie rich and famous, while Melvin has been given a stupid nickname and has stopped killing. Kylie is really enjoying her new fame, but isn't doing much to grow Melvin's notoriety, which has made Melvine quite angry. And making a serial killer angry is not a smart thing to do.

Also, Kylie's brother is missing.

The premise of Killer Influences is very interesting. Writer Joey Esposito is digging into the depths of what someone will do to become rich and famous, even if it means putting themselves in danger. Kylie keeps poking that bear because she clearly thinks that what she's done for Melvin is enough to keep him happy. Melvin, who has shown himself to be a careful killer starts to let that veneer slip as his anger rises.

Their dynamic makes for an intriguing read, teasing an eventual snap from Melvin or even more brazen antics by Kylie.
