Masters of the Universe original concept art, production materials, proofs, photographs, and developmental documents from Mattel designer Ted Mayer’s collection are being offered in a special auction at Heritage. Mayer worked on the line’s early development to shape the look of characters, vehicles, and environments.

Masters of the Universe featuring the Art of Ted Mayer Action Figures & Toys Showcase Auction will be held on Sunday, August 23, 2026. It features early development work for Eternia, Skeletor, Teela, the Battle Ram, Wind Raider, Attak Trak, and Snout Spout. There are unproduced concepts to original paintings by Earl Norem, art from Mattel’s 2000s revival by Ken Kelly, and package and promotional art by Florian Bertmer for Mondo’s 1:6 scale line.

Magazine poster original paintings by Earl Norem in the auction include one of Preternia, one of He-Man and Battle Cat, one of Beam-Blaster and Artilleray, and one of Power Gear. Ted Mayer’s The Glob concept art color study, Eternia Monster playset color concept art print, and transforming Creature concept art are offered.

Action figure highlights are He-Man and Battle Cat gift set AFA Q80, Tri-Klops with Warrior’s ring AFA Y85+ (second highest graded), Evil-Lyn with Mattel proof of purchase AFA Y85, Hordak and Grizzlor J.C. Penny two-pack CAS Q80, Teela (brown boots) AFA Y80 (only graded example), and Man-At-Arms 12-back AFA 85 (highest grade).
