A new version of an X-Men villain turned hero is ready to sparkle on the big screen. Samara Weaving, the star of the horror-comedy Ready or Not, may be joining the MCU as Emma Frost. Her casting has been reported by multiple outlets; however, Marvel and Weaving’s team have not confirmed the news.

Emma Frost is a mutant with powerful telepathic abilities that include wiping memories, projecting illusions, inducing pain or paralysis, planting suggestions in the minds of her targets, she can dampen other mutants’ powers, and send psionic blasts or produce shields. Emma can also transform herself into organic diamond form that makes her almost invulnerable, helps her block psychic attacks, and gives her super strength.

She was created by Chris Claremont and John Byrne, who introduced her in Uncanny X-Men #129 (January 1980). Emma was originally a villain and foe to the X-Men, becoming the White Queen of the Hellfire Club. Over time she evolved into a hero, joining the X-Men and eventually becoming a central member and leader of the team.

Weaving recently starred in Ready or Not 2: Here I Come, a follow-up to the 2019 film about a young bride who is the subject of a ritual hunt by her new in-laws on the wedding night. She played the titular character in The Babysitter about a boy who learns that his babysitter is part of an evil cult. Weaving also starred in Three Billboards Outside of Ebbing, Missouri, Bill & Ted Face the Music, Scream VI, and was recently in Over Your Dead Body.

Weaving could be starring in Marvel’s The X-Men reboot, directed by Jake Schreier (who helmed Thunderbolts).

X-Men actors from the 20th Century Fox movies are set to appear in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Rebecca Romijn, and James Marsden are among the actors reprising their roles that go back to the X-Men movie released in 2000.

Emma Frost was previously played by January Jones in X-Men: First Class.
